Dancing Through The Fire

Its been an interesting couple of days, I'm glad to say my eating is on point. Mental, that's another story. Our microwave died which is how I usually cook my veggies, well I decided to boil them on the stove the other day. As I sat in the kitchen watching the pot waiting for it to get to a boil, a fire suddenly ignited underneath the pot. Suddenly there were flames starting to consume the pot. At first I was so shocked at what had just unfolded, after all I originally planned to go back to my room and let the veggies tend to themselves, but I didn't! A first wave of panic hit me, as I got up and saw the flame getting bigger. I removed the pot real quick before it would be completely engulfed. Once I had removed it all I could see was the fire engulfing the entire burner, I suddenly imagined the entire house burning down, if nothing else a completely destroyed kitchen. I literally said "oh no" several times as it was totally a bit overwhelming. Finally I snappe...

Non Scale Victories

Image
Being able to rest my elbow on my leg Being able to cross my legs in a chair Being able to wear a belt for the first time since childhood When the width of my body stopped reaching over to my moms in our former car Becoming a lower weight than one of my friends for the first time ever Developing collarbone and shoulder definition More stamina for everyday things Improved personal growth. People telling me my journey is inspirational Be called a role-model Someone on Instagram recently sad I looked thin and fit in one of these photos. It was a nice compliment but perhaps it was a bit over the top. "Thin" I know not, but I'm sure the sentiment was that I looked good (for me)

Loose Skin

Image
So there it is for all to see the loose, hanging skin on my arms that was once filled with nothing but fat. I didn't really pay too much attention to this growing phenomenon  until last year when a certain incident occurred that I deliberately decided not to write about because  I would not only discard the good things that happened that day, but turn this into an actual bigger issue. The incident occurred one of the first times I went to the gym solo and was coming back, it was one of the better days if I recall. I had my arm out the window (or on the window seal) enjoying the breeze and we were stopped at a red light. I noticed in my rear-view mirror that in one of the cars in the next lane was a guy talking to some woman, and he looked over at my arm and said "that guys got a really big arm." Then the light went green, it didn't really click to me at first, but when I was bigger I used to try to avoid hanging my arm on or out the window because I was emba...

"I Can See It In Your Face"

Image
Today I seen my nutritionist, would have been a pretty routine visit, but my nutrionist, Mary, said something that changed it completely. After I got off the scale she said "Wow yeah, you've been doing something. I see it in your face " My mind was blown, no  I can't see it myself but someone actually said it completely unsolicited, in real life and my face of all places. It was only weeks ago that I cut my beard and sideburns down so that my face would stop creating the illusion of fake definition, and appear its natural true round not -defined self. Yet here comes this complement. It felt very nice, actually, I must say. In other news yesterday I seen my main doctor and we've decided to try going  down on one of my blood pressure medicines, she's not quite ready to take me off anything just yet even though my blood pressure has been perfect or near perfect the last several times I've been there. The decrease  goes into effect next week. Day...

Empowering A Friend

Image
I spent the last couple of days trying to help a good friend of mine find her worth, shed been feeling really worthless and down lately and has a lot on her plate and on top of that that she's been battling sudden asthma attacks, which her doctors are trying to figure what could be the source. Shes overcome a lot and does a lot for my friend Nick whom she is dating, but he has been grossly taking her for granted. To not vilify the other friend I won't mention all the things that have transpired(ing). I basically told Melissa she has to have other things to live for,  she  has her job, and him (and of course Belle of the ball, queen of them all) so when he frequently disappoints her it  doesn't keep reducing her to virtually nothing because he takes up 98% of her metaphorical pie chart. She's 2% of his. I told her she needs some hobbies, maybe start a blog, start (back) looking into social groups in the area, do things that make her happy and feel good for herself. Her...

Wheels In Motion

Losecember is full steam ahead, yesterday went well. I did my in door mile, ate 3 meals, started using  MyfitnessPal and finished the day just over 1500 calories, not quite the 2,000 the nutritionist is wanting, but I'm quite sure this is a lot better than the 800 ish I guesstimate I've been taking in regularly. This is the right step. I don't remember if I have discussed this, so sorry if I have but, remember when I bought that fitness watch earlier in the year, I believe around the time I got the scale. I was still in the 530s, and for the watch to be able to be used to monitor heart rate or burned calories the minimum weight requirement was 438. I could not use any of its neat functions. Until a few weeks ago when I randomly grabbed the watched and noticed I was below the minimum weight. I could actually use the watch, I didn't see this as much of a big deal, though my therapist did. I also noticed the watched fit different, I could get more loops in the straps. I ...
